Vega has changed: for the better
Vega’s Whole Health Food Optimizer has changed! It is now Vega One (all-in-one nutritional shake). I had the opportunity to try out the updated formula and I am happy to see that their vegan goodness continues. I am a huge fan of the Vega products and in particular, the Vega One product. I am a food label junkie and I avoid anything and everything that looks like junk for the body. With Vega One, there are no preservatives, no added sugar, no artificial flavours, no soy, no dairy – just great tasting alkaline-forming, whole foods to boost one’s daily nutrition plan.
Highlights of what makes Vega One so nutritiously amazing in each serving:
Protein (15 g of protein – same as 2.7 eggs)
*Unlike most protein supplements that use acid-forming whey or soy protein bases, Vega One delivers balanced amino acid, alkaline-forming proteins from pea, hemp, SaviSeed, sprouted brown rice, chlorella, and maca root.
Fiber (6 g of fiber – same as 3.2 slices of whole wheat bread)
*I am all about fiber especially when it comes from flax seed – not only rich in omega 3 oils, flax is also an ideal blend of cleansing soluble and insoluble fiber.
Omega-3 (1.5 G of omega-3 fats – same as 2.5 servings of salmon)
*Despite the misconceptions, fat is good for you especially when there is a balance of omega-3 and omega-6. Vega One helps provide this balance with white chia and whole flax seed.
Antioxidants (200 mg – same as 2.7 cups of blueberries)

Greens (same as 3 servings of vegetables)
*Crank up your vitality with a good dose of veggies every day. Vega One concentrates the goodness of alfalfa grass, spinach leaf, broccoli floret, and my favorite, kale leaf (the new ‘beef’!).
Probiotics (same a 1 cup of yogurt)
*Shift away from acid-forming dairy and gain the benefits of healthy intestinal flora with a whack of Vega’s digestive enzyme blend. Better digestion means better absorption of nutrients and food energy.
Vega One has been an important daily nutrition ritual for me in helping sustain energy, supporting my exercise program and body composition goals, and boosting my immune system.
My favorite ways to enjoy Vega One:
1) soaking oatmeal overnight with rooibos tea … the next morning, stirring in a serving of Vega One with berries or sliced banana and then sprinkling some organic, unsweetened coconut on top
2) putting a good cup of sliced frozen bananas in a magic bullet blender with some water (or rooibos tea) and a serving of Vega One … if you play with the liquid portion (ie not adding too much), this turns into an amazing, thick Vega frozen shake that is better than ice cream … excellent post yoga/workout recovery snack
3) making Energy Date balls in a food processor: pitted dates, raw cashews or walnuts, raisins, Vega One (chocolate!), extra raw cacao powder … blend up until smooth, then roll into balls, and finish off rolling in unsweetened coconut
